EAA Doctoral Scholarship

Up to $2,000 in financial assistance for AuD or PhD students in good standing with a demonstrated interest in educational and/or pediatric audiology.

The Doctoral Scholarship sponsored by the Educational Audiology Association is awarded on an annual basis to a student or students enrolled in good standing in a Doctor of Audiology (AuD) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at an accredited university. The applicant must show a vested interest in educational and/or pediatric audiology through research, volunteerism, or clinical experience. The scholarship is not based on financial need.

Application Requirements

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a student member of the Educational Audiology Association.
  • The applicant must be enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year within an accredited AuD or PhD program.
  • Transcripts verifying a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Required Documents

  • Completed Application Form (linked above).
  • Proof of Enrollment: a letter from the program director verifying the applicant’s good standing within the program.
  • Copy of resume.
  • Two Letters of Recommendation: one from a faculty member on university letterhead, and one from a clinical supervisor from the applicant’s program.

Essay

Maximum 1,000 words. Please address each prompt.

  1. Describe why you would like to pursue a career with a focus in the area of educational and/or pediatric audiology.
  2. Describe your skills and strengths that make you particularly suited to work with children who have hearing challenges.
  3. Identify an individual and explain how that person has influenced your pursuit of a career in educational/pediatric audiology.

Selection & Award

The selection committee consists of a panel of at least three reviewers including the Nominations and Awards Chairperson. The scholarship is awarded annually. Recipients are honored at the EAA Conference, held every other year.
