EAA Doctoral Scholarship

Purpose:

The Doctoral Scholarship sponsored by the Educational Audiology Association is awarded on an annual basis. Up to $2,000 of financial assistance will be presented to a student or students enrolled in good standing in a Doctoral of Audiology (AuD) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at an accredited university. The applicant must show a vested interest in educational and/or pediatric audiology either through research, volunteerism, or clinical experience. The scholarship is not based on financial need.

Requirements: 

  • The applicant must be a student member of the Educational Audiology Association
  • Proof of Enrollment
    • The application must provide proof of enrollment in an accredited AuD or PhD program. Please include a letter from the program director that verifies the applicant’s good standing within the program.
  • The applicant must be enrolled in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year within the academic program
  • Transcripts verifying a GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Essay
    • Please address each of the following statements keeping your response to a maximum of 1,000-words
      • Describe why you would like to pursue a career with a focus in the area of educational and/or pediatric audiology
      • Describe your skills and strengths that make you particularly suited to work with children who have hearing challenges.
      • Identify an individual and explain how that person has influenced your pursuit of a career in educational/pediatric audiology.
    • Copy of Resume
    • 2 Letters of Recommendation
      • One letter of recommendation from a faculty member from the applicant’s program on university letterhead
      • One letter of recommendation from a clinical supervisor from the applicant’s program

    The selection committee will consist of a panel of at least three reviewers including the Nominations and Awards Chairperson. The scholarship will be awarded annually. Recipients will be honored at the EAA Conference held every other year.
